Setting plays one of the most significant roles in a short story as the characters are largely affected by the setting. The overall plot of a story is made based on a particular setting and the behaviour of the characters is judged keeping in mind the setting they are in. Authors have often tried to focus on the setting of the stories to make the main story more thought provoking.
